I fish mostly shallow water but do it in a variety of different ways with the use of two boats. I can accommodate the novice using live bait to the seasoned fly angler. Keaton Beach allows for a wide variety of inshore angling options including site stalking fish in the shallows, drifting grass flats for trout, fishing tidal creeks, oyster bars and rocks. The type of fishing we do will be based on client preference, skill level and season. I can accommodate up to 4 anglers for a general fishing trip but if you prefer a more technical style I'd recommend 1 to 2 persons. If you are looking to book a fishing trip please reach out to me via call, text or email. 2293002895 apalacheeinshore@gmail.com
Mainly we fish very shallow water and target redfish and spotted seatrout. Other seasonal species can include flounder, spanish mackerel, cobia, tarpon and others.
I offer fly fishing trips but these are dependent on the tides. If you are interested reach and we can talk about it and get a good day scheduled.
While I do still fish during scallop season, the redfish especially, and to a lesser extent trout bite are generally not as good. This is due impart to increased boat traffic, but also high water temperatures during the mid summer days that align with scallop season. When temperatures reach the mid to high 80s, which they commonly are during summer, this removes lots of oxygen from the water and drives the redfish out deeper seeking cooler water temps spreading them into a larger area hence becoming harder to target. If you are just looking to go fishing and get a rod bent there is still plenty of action to be had , some speckled trout, sharks, ladyfish, bluefish and mackerel are all commonly caught during scallop season.
We have a tightknit community of guides here in Keaton Beach and we can happily accommodate trips requiring multiple boats. We can even help with lodging for multiday group trips. We just ask that you schedule these trips well in advance to assure guide and/or lodging availability.
I provide fishing license as well as all equipment and bait required for fishing. I always have bottled water on the boat but you may bring and small cooler with your own drinks and snacks. I also will clean any fish that you decide to keep for no charge.
Over 20 years experience fishing the Big Bend area and has been a full time guide since 2017.
Mako Pro Skiff 19 Length 19' 4" Beam 7' 9"Draft 9"
The Mako inverted V hull makes for a smooth ride but runs skinny enough to chase fish into their shallow water hiding spots. Large forward and aft casting decks make it a great flats fishing boat.
Mitzi skiff 17 tunnel
My poling skiff for stalking fishing in ultra skinny water.
